i never find this central section of the beach as interesting as the front with it's sea view and the wild flower or as one of my friends insists on calling them weeds!,or the back with it's views of the lakes and trees with the hills beyond.It i suppose seems a little to much of suburbia,with it's neat lines of chalets, but it is a necessary evil.

The grasslands of Dunster beach

The place is overrun with rabbits they seem to like the sea air.there is a price to pay for having these animals around several of the chalets a year have been undermined .which requires the holes filling in and in some cases repair of the warped wood.i belive that in the winter away from our delicate city sensibilities the rabbits are culled.It seems to have very little impact on there numbers though.They breed like,well rabbits.

We have bats on the beach as well but the chances of picturing one of them in flight is infinitesimally small.They are so fast that all you see is a blur and their gone.scarey the firts time you walk out about dusk and something flyes inches from your face ,but then you are able to marvel at there control of flight in the dying of the light.

Ok i will lay off these photos for a while as i have loads and you will get bored.I do like the way that nature colonizes new areas,we are gaining land here. You see so over the years i have seen the plant life marching out to sea,or at least towards the welsh coast. and the beach is never quite the same year on year.
These plants are all over the Beach, i am not sure whate they are but they seem similar to the evening primrose plants ?

So the local saying is when you can see wales it is going to rain and when you cannot see wales it is raining.It actually does not rain that often but if it does it is usually set for the day.The beach is a sort of muddy pebbly kind with pockets of sand,but for all that it is pleasant to walk along and watch the skyes darken in the evening.

Minehead from the beach

In the foreground is one of the lakes covered in reeds and in the background is the tent like structure of Butlins a safe distance away.In the far distance is part of the town of Minehead,called Minehead without.
